Spacial narrative Project
Beijing, China
September-December 2022
In this project, I used a fictional narrative in architectural language for the atrocious issue of excessive killings of wild animals, expressing my strong opposition and condemning this inhumane behaviour.
I set the work in the world view of the ancient Chinese myth, Classics of Mountains and Seas, projecting the various animal killing behaviours in real life onto the giant beasts in the masterpiece with the description of the torture and murder of the beasts imprisoned. I created the architectural form based on the ritual rules of ancient Chinese architecture. Specifically, I emphasized the "ritual system" and "disciplines" to form a strong contrast with the barbaric nature of violence. Using this kind of ridicule and satire,
The space will be modeled on ancient Chinese architecture, creating a ritual space with an upward spatial alignment and symmetrical form. Based on the ideas of ‘powerful', ‘plain' and ‘entertaining', a spatial complex where ritual, ceremonial and entertainment functions co-exist will be formed, hence discussing the essence of human cruelty to animals through the architectural language.
